from the Book of Shadows of a Solitary Witch:
Ways Everyone Can Honor Alban Elfed in a Time of Social Isolation
Merry meet again. I am deeply grateful that you are allowing me to share a handful of ideas from my Book of Shadows with you. These are a few of the ways I honor the season of Autumn Equinox as a Solitary Practitioner of the Craft. May you find the glow of gratitude shared as the days become shorter and the within time approached.
Have a virtual Thanksgiving
Make all your Autumnal favorites and schedule a meal, drinks or coffee time. Invite your beloved blood or chosen kin via Zoom, Meetings, FB group video chat or what ever live video platform you like.
Keep a gratitude jar
Be it small notes added to a jar once a day throughout the season, or a small note book that you add a moment of on going thanks to. Having a moment of gratitude every day is a way of connectiong within and without oursurelves. Added benefit this kind of magic done consistantly has a huge impace on shifting energy and focus in a truly positive was. Other thoughts could be to hold a pebble or stone you've collected. Imbue it with your thanks, one each day. Collect them in a basket or other vessel. When it gets full take them all back out to where they came and with a final blessing of gratitude release the that beautiful healing energy into the world.
Make a harvest altar
Spread out autumn colored leaves in an artful way. Add gourds, root vegitables, grains and honey cakes. Nuts for the animals that collect and seeds for those that peck. The trees make a glorious back drop and can be thanks of those that give of themselves for our shelter and warmth. Add representations of all of the victories that you have gathered to you over the year.
Practice Braiding
The fall cdonjures thoughts of braiding garlic, onion and bread or pastery dough. The smells wafting around your kitchen as you prepare them for the winter days to come. Now is a good time to make some magical tools as well. Ther are ways to simply are intricately braid, plaite or weave a new bessom. You can use straw, wheat, barley, or grasses and reeds. Lavender and other herbs are magical and fragrant additions. Rosemary especially can be made into a small bessom of its own and hung on or over your front door as both a blessing and protection for your home or other sacred spaces.
Fire Cider, Elderberry Syrup
Begin to prepare your healing recipes. Fire cider and elderberry syrup are both known to add in boosting your immune system and speed recovery of fall and winter colds. And are just so darn tasty!!!! They are not the only options. you can easily research and gently adapt recipes that will work wonderfully for you.
