Ways Everyone Can Honor TheSummer Solstice in a Time of Social Isolation
Blessed Summer Solstice! It is my honor to once again open my Book of Shadows, to peek within the cover and share with you a few ways that everyone can celebrate the time of active growth and release. May you feel inspired to begin to find other ways to celebrate this time safely and create connections within the confines of distancing. Blessed Be!
· Create a Sun Catcher
Hang prisms, place colored pieced of glassware or clear jars with colored water in your window. Or perhaps string crystals that can refract the light around your room.
· Weed
Go outside and enjoy honoring the growing time by weeding out your garden or offer to weed a friend or senior's garden in your community to help them stay safe and distanced. This is truly an activity in the alignment with the concept of, “As within, so without.”
· Release Ritual
Take some time to reflect on the ideas, thought patterns, behaviors and tools that you have been using to grow your intentions. Ask yourself, which ones are working and which ones are getting in the way. Now write down each one that is getting in your way and are ready to let go of on a small piece of paper. Light a fire in a safe place and burn the paper. As it burns, visualize what is written on the paper gently burning away from your life.
· Make Sun Tea
Mix herbs and tea with water in a large jar and allow it to steep while absorbing the summer sun. Alternatively, consider steeping in the sun a jar filled with water, honey, ice, lemons or other citrus and a hand full of hibiscus or lavender for a refreshing twist on lemonade.
· Feasting
Barbeque or have a picnic, choose fresh fruits and vegetables. Deliver a basket of the food you’ve made on a neighbors door step to share the meal and celebrations with others that you are not able to be connected with right now.
· Set a Sun Alter
Start with red, orange and/or yellow clothe. Add a bowl of sweet fruits and vibrantly colored flowers and honey with gratitude of the abundance of fresh produce. How about placing bubbles or small toys that bring you joy and make you smile on the table. Remember CANDLES, after all Summer brings with it the power of fire in many forms.
· Play
Yes! Literally, have fun, dance, laugh and do whatever you find playful joy just for the purpose of elevating your spirits.
